2001: A Space Odyssey and NFB film Universe

A question for experts of the film _2001: A Space Odyssey_. I've been
asked if I knew who had produced the National Film Board of Canada
documentary _Universe_ in the late sixties (for Expo 67?), and if that
person was subsequently consulted or hired by Stanley Kubrick to create
special effects for _2001_. I remember hearing or reading something about
that some years ago, but I can't seem to find any sources. Any information
would be much appreciated.
