1. in connection with an ETA Hoffman celebration, a friend is
looking for films that relate both the hoffman's work and to
some aspect of dance . . . are there any such films other than
in the work of powell and pressburger? . . . and does anyone
know of any critical work on the connection or interpenetration
or influence of hoffman, dance, and cinema?

2. much closer to home: a while back [almost certainly at some
time during the past year] the new yorker ran a brief overview
of the work and reputation of nicholas ray . . . i've gone through
lots of back issues without coming upon the one that has this piece
in it . . . does anyone off hand remember when it appeared?

thanks much

mike
