This may be slightly off point, but there is a masterful use of split
screen in that old movie "Rollerball" which I would argue is the epitome
of sports culture movies.  But that's not the point.  The "Multivision"
was designed by the "coorperations" to give the audience a better
perspective of sports events.  It's like seeing a replay of a Jordan
lay-up from 5 different angles all the time.  It also deemed itself
quite effective when the protagonist watched home movies of his ex-wife.
 As far as inundating yourself with a person's character the 4 screen
view is defineately the way.
 
Really enjoyable and perhaps a possible marketable item.   Kinda like
those 360 degree cinemas at Disneyland and the like.  Anywhoooo.....
