              The Moving Image:
 Journal of the Association of Moving Image Archivists

     The Moving Image is a peer reviewed journal, representing the interests of the Association of Moving Image Archivists, while also providing an open forum for archivists, librarians, technical specialists, scholars and academics interested in our rapidly expanding field.  The Moving Image reflects the diverse interests of the membership, including its special interest groups for news and documentary collections, amateur film, regional archives, and academic users. The University of Minnesota Press is AMIA's partner in publication.

The Moving Image addresses issues involving all moving image materials,including historic and contemporary film, television, and video, new and emerging digital technologies, as well as paper and three-dimensional
collections documenting the history of moving image media. The journal seeks for publication:

Traditional scholarly papers and historical essays
In-depth examinations of specific preservation and restoration projects
Detailed profiles of moving image collections or archives
Interviews with leading figures in the community
Behind the scenes looks at the techniques used to preserve and restore our moving image heritage
Theoretical and visionary articles and columns on the future of the field
Technical and practical articles on research and development in the field
Essays on the role of moving image archives and collections in the writing of history
Reviews of books and films directly related to the archival field
Filmographies and videographies which document persons, genres, or specific themes
Illustrations, still reproductions, frame enlargements, and before-and-after image comparisons

     The deadline for Vol. 1, No. 2 (Fall 2001) is
                15 February 2001.

or email [log in to unmask]  Do not send manuscripts before submitting proposal to Jan-Christopher Horak ([log in to unmask]).  All manuscripts should be in 12 point type, double spaced, with 1 inch margins,
sent in triplicate with a disc in ASCII and Word or WordPerfect. Endnotes should conform to the Chicago Manual of Style.
