Though it has already happened at the start of the film, the protagonist in
Wim Wenders "Paris Texas" (played by Harry Dean Stanton) had disapeared
without a known cause or reason. One day he just walks out of the desert. He
continues to try to "bolt" through the film as we learn of the sorted past
and present of his life. In the end he leaves again, but has grown to be able
to explain his leaving to his abandoned son (and to the audience)

Hop this one helps you.

Doug
