1. Assistant Professor - Film Studies
Queens College-City University of New York

Salary Range: $38,801 - $67,092

Description of Duties
The Department of Media Studies at Queens College of the City
University of New York (CUNY) announces an opening for a tenure-track
position at the Assistant Professor level to begin in Fall 2009. We
seek a Film Studies specialist whose sub-specialties must include one
or more of the following areas: African, Asian, Middle Eastern, post-
colonial and diasporic cinemas. Must also be able to teach
introductory undergraduate cinema history and media criticism
courses, perform department and college service, conduct student
advisement, and engage in ongoing original scholarship. Details about

Qualifications
Ph.D. in hand by September 1, 2009; evidence of scholarly promise;
evidence of excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level with
potential to teach at the graduate level. Publications are a distinct
plus.

following areas: media technologies; political economy; television
studies; policy and regulation; issues of media diversity. Must be
