Another type of musical to consider is one of the "anti-musicals"
that came to notice in the 1970s-1980s, such as NEW YORK NEW YORK, ALL
THAT JAZZ or PENNIES FROM HEAVEN (taking into account the differences
between that last film and its TV inspiration).  Even Altman's POPEYE
might fit in here.
