LIBRARY OF CONGRESS COCA-COLA FELLOWSHIP FOR THE STUDY OF ADVERTISING
AND WORLD CULTURES

Applications are now being accepted for the Library of Congress
Coca-Cola Fellowship for the Study of Advertising and World Cultures,
which will be awarded annually for the next two years. Administered
by the Libraryıs Motion Picture, Broadcasting and Recorded Sound
Division (M/B/RS) in collaboration with the Libraryıs Office of
Scholarly Programs, awards are made to researchers studying the
interrelationships among advertising, culture, commerce and the
media. The fellowship provides recipients with access to resources
for an extended period of in-depth, multi-disciplinary research into
the Libraryıs broadcast advertising and other audio-visual
collections. A supporting stipend of $20,000 is provided for the
duration of the fellowship, which must include three months residency
in the Washington, DC, area to conduct research in the Libraryıs
collections. Scholars of all nationalities are invited to apply.

Selection of the Coca-Cola Fellow will be made by the Librarian of
Congress upon the recommendation of a three-person Selection
Committee, chosen from the broader academic community. The Selection
Committee members will be appointed by the Librarian of Congress in
consultation with the staff of the Motion Picture, Broadcasting and
Recorded Sound Division. The deadline for completed applications for
the 2005 award is March 15, 2005, with the recipient to be announced
on May 1, 2005. For more information on how to apply for the
