Since Don Larsson's deconstruction of Damico needs little elaboration, I
am not offering a definition of noir beyond what I have already published
but taking the opportunity to renew my request for anyone who has a few
noir images lying around which they might be willing to lend or trade for
a book on noir style.

While I'm at it I might as well hype the forthcoming (April from Limelight
Editions, NY) FILM NOIR READER, an anthology that includes a reprint of
Damico and all the other important early pieces (Kerr, Porfirio, Place &
Peterson, Schrader, Durgnat and a translation of Borde & Chaumeton's first
chapter). Also a bunch of new pieces and newer reprints including one from
this list's moderator, Jeremy Butler.
