     For thirteen years, VISIONS of U.S. has discovered a wealth of new
creative talent in the premiere video contest of our time. This year
, it's your turn to share your creative vison... and have your work
judged by video professionals- with the chance to win valuable Sony
prizes including a new Digital Video camecorder!
Whether you're an artist, activist or inspired amateur, VISIONS OF
U.S. is a serious oppotunity to get you recognized. Submissions are
invited in five categories: Fiction, using video to tell a story;
NON-FICTION, creating your own documentary; EXPERIMENTAL/MUSIC VIDEO,
taking the video medium to its creative limits of  integrate it with
an original score or previously published music (with written
permission); YOUNG PEOPLE, any subject produced by an entrant
seventeen years of age or younger; and the newly added category
COMEDY, creating a video that has a comedic point of view or origianl
comedic acting. One Grand Prize will be selected from all entries.
Choose any home video format to create and communicate your vision:
8mm, Hi8, VHS-C, VHS, S-VHS or Digital VIdeo (DV); however,
interformat editing is allowed. Entries must be originally poduced and
we recommend that they not exceed 20 minutes in length. The quality
of performaces and technical execution will be a consideration in
judging, but origianality will be the most important factor. Top
pofessionals will be the judges, but the winners will be creative
individuals like you- and like prvious VISIONS OF U.S. winners who
have gone on to successful careers in film and the TV industry. You
have until June 15, 1997 to submit your entry... so start planning
today, because 1997 could be your year to win!
Prizes for the 13th Annual VISIONS OF U.S. home video contest
GRAND PRIZE(1) -DCR-X700 digital hadycam camcorder
FIRST PRIZE (1) -CCD-TRV62 Handycam camcorder
SECOND PRIZE(1)-CCD-TRV52 handycam camcorder
RUNNING UP(3)-SLV-675HF VHS VIdeocassette recorder.
In addition to these Sony prizes, every entry will be returned
accopnied by a bonus blank videocassette to reward your efforts.
Awards will be given in a ceremony to be held in Los Angeles or New
York: Grand Prize and First Place winners will be flown to the awards
ceremony except for the First Place winners will e flown to the
awards ceremony except fot the First prize winner in the Comedy
category who will be participating in the U.S. comedy Arts Festival
in March 1998.
