<stuff deleteed> A friend once claimed something of this
>sort was tried on one New York subway line perhaps in the 1980's, but that
>was a vague, second-hand report at best. Has anyone ever seen or heard of
>such things? <stuff deleted>

I have seen such a thing in New York in the early 80s. It was on a
subway line going from Brooklyn into the city. I believe it was just
after the last stop in Brooklyn. I can snail mail my friend (ah these
friends who *aren't* online) and ask more specific questions.

He pointed the series out to me during a visit cuz of my interest in
animation.
