In the Gujarati film BHAVNA BHAVAI (Ketan Mehta--it has a short release here
in the 80s) a folk tale is told by poor people, and at the end they reject the
happy ending for a more realistic one. So the ending is "retold." I recall a
couple of English language movies have used this device, but can't remember
what.
