In response to the question about other films using the device of the play
within a play, one obvious example is also related to "Hamlet."  The film
version of Tom Stoppard's play "Rosencrantz and Gildenstern Are Dead" is an
excellent screen adaptation and centers on characters from Hamlet who are
trying to deal with being overshadowed by their more famous contemporary
(i.e. Hamlet).  Stoppard's drop dead wit is not to be believed, and Tim Roth
and Richard Dreyfus both give excellent performances.  Based on reactions of
those near and dear to me, this is a film (and a play) that will either stand
you on your ear or put you to sleep, but I'd certainly give it a shot if you
