Stephen, I just finished helping a student who is doing a 30-page
paper on Canada's role in visual literacy education. Plowing
through Comm. Abstracts we came across an entry that made her
day...You may already be aware of it though:

"Report of the Royal Commission on Violence in the Communications
Industry." Toronto: The Commission/Ministry of Government Services.
1977. 7 volumes.

Although this might seem too dated, you mention that you are going to
discuss the evolution of violence in the media. One of the charges
given to the commission was to document the findings of all research
done on the issue FOR THE LAST FIFTY YEARS...Volume 2 is a
bibliography on Violence and the Media.

Hope this helps...Martha
