Sexism on Northern Exposure?

Has anyone else noticed the exclusive nature of the opening credits of North-
ern Exposure? The show's typographical signature, the underlined "o" in Nor-
thern, is repeated in the first "o" of every name in the credits. The problem
is that all five male characters appearing in the credits (and Anthony Edwards
who plays Mike Monroe, and executive producers Josh Brand and John Falsey)
have an "o" in their names. None of the four female characters listed in the
opening credits do, however. Are there any thoughts on this? Is this some
kind of covert sexism based on vowels? Why not choose "u" or "e" or some
other more inclusive vowel to be underlined?
