The Department of Cultural Analysis & Theory (CAT) invites applications for
a tenure­track Assistant Professor in Visual Culture & Digital Media to
begin Fall 2014.



We seek a scholar whose research and teaching is grounded in the history and
theory of digital media with an emphasis on visual culture. The preferred
candidate will be fluent in critical theory, theories of visuality, and
comparative media studies with proven research and teaching in the following
areas: histories of the digital image and technology; emergent and
experimental media formats, particularly cinematic and post­ cinematic
forms; and media archaeology.



The Department welcomes applications from candidates with training in critical
race/ethnic studies, postcolonial critique, and/or transnationalism
and globalization.
 All members of faculty in the department teach at both the undergraduate
and graduate levels. The candidate will be expected to teach a large-lecture
in the department's Cinema and Cultural Studies major as well as upper-division
undergraduate courses based upon the candidate's areas of specialization and
a graduate seminar.



Ph.D. in Visual Culture Studies, Cinema Studies, New Media Studies, or a
related field must be completed before 15 August 2014.



Preliminary phone or video interviews will be conducted in January.
Finalists will be invited to campus in late January and early February 2014.
