CALL FOR ENTRIES: the 5th Annual Chicago ASIAN AMERICAN SHOWCASE is seeking
features, shorts, documentaries, and experimental works on film and video,
by or
about Asian Americans.  Festival dates: Spring 2000.  Deadline: Nov. 30, 1999.

The Asian American Showcase is presented by the Foundation for Asian American
Independent Media (FAAIM, formerly ìFortune4î) and The Film Center of the
School
of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Send VHS videotape (with title/name marked on the case and box), $10 entry fee
(payable to FAAIM, biographical/production info, still photo (print or disk),
SASE for tape return (optional) to:

The Showcase enters its fifth year as the Midwestís premier Asian American film
festival.  Recent highlights include the Midwest premieres of Emiko Omoriís
RABBIT IN THE MOON, Ruby Yangís CITIZEN HONG KONG, Eric Koyanagiís HUNDRED
PERCENT, Timothy Cheyís FAKINí DA FUNK, Chris Chan Leeís YELLOW, Rea Tajiriís
STRAWBERRY FIELDS, and many others, with personal appearances and workshops by
several directors and actors.  The Showcase also includes Asian American art
exhibits, literary readings, and music concerts.  It has been covered by the
Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times, National Public Radio, Chicago Reader, A
magazine, Asian Week, and other media.
