TRIVIA
# Wizard of Oz, The (1939)
Many portions of the film not derived from the book have their origins
in the 1902 stage play by L. Frank Baum, with music and lyrics by
Paul Tietjens, heavily revised by producer Julian P. Mitchell and
various songwriters. Some of these include the back projection in
the window during the tornado, the wicked witch's appearance in
Munckinland, and the snowstorm in the poppy field. Baum was severely
disappointed by the play, although it did make him a lot of money.
