The department of communication at Georgia State University invites
applicants for up to two anticipated tenure-track assistant professors
in moving image studies, to begin in August 2008. Candidates should have
innovative research programs underway in the historical, critical and/or
theoretical study of visuality in the context of the moving image (or of
sound-image relations), whether in cinema, television, or new media. The
particular area of specialization (e.g., *national* media, feminism,
cultural studies, etc.) is otherwise open. Candidates should have the
ability to teach in the department*s undergraduate film program and
also to contribute to work done in the M.A. and rapidly developing
doctoral Moving Image Studies programs. Ph.D. required. Applications
should include a letter of application and CV, transcripts, three
letters of recommendation, and evidence of teaching effectiveness.
Review of applications to begin November 15, 2007. Georgia State
University is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer. Women,
minorities, and candidates from other traditionally under-represented
groups are especially encouraged to apply. Address applications to Dr.
Angelo Restivo, Search Committee Chair, Department of Communication,
Georgia State University, One Park Place South, Suite 662, Atlanta, Ga.,
30302-4000.
