CONTEMPORARY AMERICAN CINEMA JOB ANNOUNCEMENT


THE UNIVERSITY OF IOWA seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor in film
studies.

Candidates must possess a solid, far-reaching base in contemporary American
cinema that includes strength in film theory as well as expertise in one or
more of the following: minority identity & cultures; artist-directors &
alternative markets; international film festival culture; relationships
among the film, video & music industries; film & emerging technologies.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in film studies or related discipline by the
date of appointment.  Strong consideration will be given to candidates who
work in one or more of the following areas: script analysis and
screenwriting; economics of entertainment industries; theories of race,
class & ethnicity.

Screening will begin November 1 and will continue until the position is
filled. Applicants should submit: a letter of application, a curriculum
vitae, three letters of reference, and a writing sample to: Lauren
