	Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Celebrate Earth Day with an In-depth Look at One of its Most
Outstanding Regions: The Amazon!

ETERNAL AMAZON (AMAZÔNIA ETERNA), A FILM BY BELISARIO FRANCA,
IS NOW AVAILABLE FOR EDUCATIONAL PURCHASE!

"Cinema has discussed issues about Amazônia, but never like in this
film" __ESTADAO DE SAO PAULO

"_Amazônia Eterna_ explained the rain forest in a way I had never
understood it before, but the film fascinated me as cinema, as an
admirable aesthetic experience."_ _Luiz Carlos Merten, GOOD PLANET,
ESTADAO

"[_Amazônia Eterna_] seeks to showcase projects that are being
carried out with a positive outcome when thinking in terms of a green
economy." _ _SUSTENTATOR

The Amazon is a vast laboratory for sustainable experiments that are
revealing new relationships among human beings, corporations, and the
natural heritage crucial for life on the planet. This is where the
guidelines are being drawn up for a new global economic model: the
green economy.

_Eternal Amazon_ presents a critical analysis of how the worlds
largest tropical rainforest is understood and utilized. Exploring the
Amazons five million square kilometershome to 20% of the worlds
freshwater reservesthe film asks whether it is possible for humans to
make sustainable use of the rainforest by featuring nine successful
projects that directly benefit the local population and foster good
economic partnerships. Experts like economist Sergio Besserman,
ecologists Bertha Becker and Virgilio Viana, and Amazonians themselves
explain activities such as agriculture, fisheries, and animal
husbandry. The film portrays the daily lives of the forest people as
the guardians of this great natural heritage that, if properly
managed, could last into eternity.

_Eternal Amazon_ is an indispensable resource for Ecology and
Environment Studies, Anthropology, Latin-American Studies, Sociology,
and Economics, among others.
