I have seen a report that Alphonso Arau, the director of LIKE WATER FOR
CHOCOLATE, cut 38 minutes from the original running time of 144 for the
English-subtitled distribution of the film.

Does anyone know what specific scenes were cut? How much input did Laura
Esquivel, author of the book and screenplay, and wife of Arau, have in this
decision?
