Dear colleagues and Mr Fish:

You might look into three or four late comedies with music directed
by Frank R. Capra (post "Wonderful Life");

Here Comes the Groom ( with Crosby );
Riding High ( Crosby [ not Dick Powell version ] );
Hole in the Head ( Sinatra );
Pocketful of Miracles ( Glenn Ford ).

Might be ideal for your topic...?

Good hunting,
Steven P Hill,
University of Illinois.

 Dear Screen-listers,
I am looking for Fifties film examples of heroes, heroines, or whole
groups of people that go through many travails but come out better in
the end. Examples that come from epics and musicals would be
excellent.
Thank you,
Adam Fish
UCLA.
