The first book of the much-missed Professor Peter Hutchings, Hammer and Beyond: The British Horror Film (1993), has just been republished by Manchester University Press. The new edition includes a new introduction (by me), some new images, three previously published essays by Peter presented here to plug some of the gaps left by the first edition, and an afterword by European horror scholar (and friend to Peter), Russ Hunter. There’ll be a panel discussion chaired by Kate Egan (Northumbria), featuring me, Alison Peirse (Leeds), Adam Lowenstein (Pittsburgh), Leon Hunt (Brunel) and Russ Hunter (Northumbria). We’ll also been unveiling a discount code entitling everybody to 40% off the cover price when placing an order via the MUP website (reduces the price to around £12).
