Mike, try Pat O'Neill's WATER AND POWER. It is inventive,
experimental, pretentious, and ultimately irritating, but it's got
what you're after: a large proportion of it focusses on LA's coastal
geography, presenting it largely through time-lapse photography and
superimposition.
