Primary teaching responsibilities will be in beginning and
intermediate film production courses which cover the techniques
of 16mm synchronous sound film production and traditional double
system film postproduction. It is required that the candidates

Depending on the candidates' areas of expertise, additional
teaching responsibilities would include advanced courses in one

cinematography, lighting, production sound recording, digital
postproduction, producing and production management,
screenwriting, traditional and computerized animation, multi/new-
media, and junior and senior level film workshop courses. There
may also be some opportunity for the candidates to teach courses
in film aesthetics and analysis, film history, and other film
and multi/new-media studies areas.

Graduate degree in film or related discipline is required.
M.F.A. or Ph.D. is preferred, however, consideration will be
given to candidates with an MA degree who have significant and
appropriate professional and/or academic experience.
Significant film production work, and successful teaching
experience are required. The Department is particularly seeking
candidates who can help it move into the realm of digital
production and postproduction at the same time as we maintain a
foundation in traditional filmmaking techniques. A commitment
to a liberal arts education within a professional program is
expected.
