SAVING FACE<http://www.wmm.com/filmcatalog/pages/c838.shtml> wins Best Feature Film Award at the 2014 APA Film Festival!

"This thought-provoking documentary explores the horrors some women endure and their strength as they overcome fear. Follow two brave Pakistani women as they recover mentally, physically and judicially after brutal acid attacks at the hands of their husbands." - APA Film Festival Program

Hi All,

I'm writing from Women Make Movies, the leading nonprofit distributor of films by and about women. WMM is thrilled to announce that SAVING FACE has won the APA Film Festival Award: Best Feature Film! The American Psychological Association honored SAVING FACE at their conference on August 8, 2014<http://www.apa.org/convention/programming/film/index.aspx>. SAVING FACE is a fantastic addition to classrooms, organizations and libraries focused on psychology, human rights, women's studies, South Asian studies and domestic violence. I'm including some additional info on SAVING FACE. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, and thanks as always for supporting independent women filmmakers!

Alre?????ady a multi-award winning film, SAVING FACE was awarded the Academy Award(r) for Best Documentary (Short Subject), and two News & Documentary Emmy(r) Awards - Best Documentary and Outstanding Editing: Documentary and Long Form, as well broadcast on HBO, proving there is no better film on this subject.

A moving and inspirational film, SAVING FACE profiles the courageous journeys of female acid attack victims in Pakistan and plastic surgeon Dr. Mohammad Jawad, who left a successful London practice and returned to his home country to help these women rebuild their lives. Directed by American filmmaker Daniel Junge and Pakistani director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, SAVING FACE is an intimate look inside Pakistani society, illuminating each woman's personal experience and depicts a Pakistan that is changing - one where ordinary people can stand up and make a difference and where marginalized communities can seek justice.
