Fellow SCREEN-L members,

Thank you for your input on Movies dealing with the city of New Orleans.
As a lifelong resident of the outskirts of the Crescent City, I have
always been fascinated by popular film's connotative images of the area.
Listed below is a preliminary list of New Orleans films. Credit goes to
personal brainstorming, SCREEN-L members, and two fellow New Orleanians
(John Defraites and Evan Mather).

A Streetcar Named Desire
J.F.K.
Panic in the Streets
The Pelican Brief
The Client
Undercover Blues
The Big Easy
Down by Law
No Mercy
Blaze
Hard Target
Point of No Return
(Jim Jarmusch films)
Zandalee
Interview with the Vampire
Cat People
Blue Chips (YOU DO NOT HAVE TO TAKE A BOAT TO GET TO ALGIERS!!!!!!!!!)
King Creole
Live and Let Die
Angel Heart
Johnny Handsome
Easy Rider
Wild at Heart

At first glance, why do I see recurring themes of "black magic,"
forbidden and perverse sexual activity, and political corruptness? Hmmm...

Special thanks to Krin Gabbard and Barbara Bernstein for directing me to
people who share my area of interest. I will get in touch with them soon.

If you have any more suggestions, I am open to them.

If anyone is interested in this area of study or have information about
other "cities in film" studies, let me know as well. I will be glad to
talk with you.

Thanks for all your help.
