SENIOR LECTURER/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR IN SCREEN STUDIES(Continuing)
 
Senior Lecturer       $52 726 - $60 797 pa
Associate Professor    $63 487 - $69 942 pa
 
 
Two positions are available in Screen Studies. One is a continuing
position. The other is for a term of three years, which may be extended for
a further period and/or converted to a continuing position.
 
Screen Studies teaches a major sequence of critical and historical topics,
complemented by a sequence of topics in film production. The unit aims to
maintain an integrated approach to the teaching of theoretical and
practical areas.
 
Ref 96158  Available full-time from February 1997, this is an appointment
to a continuing position;  tenure would normally be granted after three
years on the basis of satisfactory performance.
 
The appointee will be required to teach within the history/theory
component, to undertake research, and to take a leadership role within the
unit. The appointee will be expected to be supportive of the production
stream as well as of the historical/theoretical work of the unit.
Applicants should have a demonstrated interest in one or more of the
following areas: classical and contemporary film theories; national,
historical and cultural studies of film and other screen media; gender and
film; postcolonial cinemas.
 
Essential criteria include a record of excellence in publication, a record
of excellence in teaching and curriculum development, and experience in
academic administration.
 
 
LECTURER/ASSOCIATE LECTURER IN SCREEN STUDIES
(Convertible)
 
Associate Lecturer     $30 130 - $40 889 pa
Lecturer                            $43 042 - $51 113 pa
 
 
Ref 96159  Available full-time from February 1997.  This is an appointment
for a term of three years, which may be extended for a further period
and/or converted to a continuing position. The appointee will be required
to teach within the history/theory component, to undertake research, and to
assist in administration.  Applicants should have a demonstrated interest
in one or more of the following areas: classical and contemporary film
theories; national, historical and cultural studies of film and other
screen media; gender and film; postcolonial cinemas.
 
Essential criteria include an excellent Honours degree in Screen Studies or
a related area; indication of good teaching skills; and a commitment to
research. Appointment at Lecturer level is normally conditional on
possession of a higher degree and is not normally made above $47,885 pa.

Resources by the closing date, 11th November 1996. Please do not merely

support to the University.  It is expected that interviews will take place
in November.
