I understand that there is a limit to the budgets for rentals in a college or
university setting. This is why you must bring your good taste and knowledge
to the selection of the few films you can show. Lecture more and project
less.

Nevertheless to take Mr Dorris to task is the sort of "grip" which doesn't
reveal much understanding of the reality of his situation... or the fact that
distribution for the most part is not a "not-for-profit"game... like the
university you teach in?

If he or other's like him do not bear the cost of distribution of such
films they would fall into dust. This person I met once... is not a "close
friend"... so I say this to you straight up. He and his company have done
more to insure that "difficult" films survive than the AFI... Sundance... or
Miramax etc. Thank your fading B/W stars that he and his partner have the
courage and good taste to keep fighting
for the history and future of cinema.

Rent good prints... recreate the event of cinema in a theatre with a
live audience and thank Mr Dorris that he is out there.
