Dear Chrys:
Keep your eyes peeled later this year for THE WEDDING BANQUET, a film
by Ang Lee about a gay Taiwanese man who enters a green card marriage in
order to
fool his parents. I co-wrote and produced it, and am happy to say I just
sold it to Samuel Goldwyn Company, who plan a release probably in early
Fall. While I can't send out cassettes, I'll be happy to send you press
materials on it in the meantime. The centerpiece of the film is an
elaborate traditional Chinese wedding in New York. (And by the way, check
out RED SORGHUM for a spectacular wedding sequence. And did anyone mention
L'ATALANTE? THE BRIDE WORE BLACK? AMARCORD?)
