Besides the SCS and other sites mentioned previously, the University of Pennsylvania maintains a website for Calls for Papers for conferences all over in the humanities, including Film/Video.  Not perfect, but a good start.  When our grad students started a conference here a couple of years ago, the CFP got forwarded to that list and we had a remarkable response!  Go to:

        I would like to echo Sarah Higley's call below, but primarily in terms of
        the UK.  I've tried several times looking for advance information on the
        internet and never been able to come up with anything.  I only seem to read
        about the conferences after they have happened.  Very frustrating.  How can
        I learn in advance??
