Have you read Kobena Mercer's "Welcome to the Jungle" (1994, Routledge
I think). The BFI (UK) also has a couple of publications called the
BFI Papers (contact the BFI in London or ICA Bookshop in London)
which contain a small collection of articles by researchers such as
as Stuart Hall, Kobena Mercer etc.
