35mm films:  16 frames per foot
16mm films:  40 frames per foot
 
In U.S. and in most other countries in the world, the films
(35mm & 16mm) run 24 frames per second (in France, it is 25 fps.)
 
Therefore, in one minute,
 
35mm film has ...   60(sec) x 24(frames) = 1440(frames)
     that is  ...   1440(frames) / 16(frames) = 90(feet)
 
16mm films    ...   60 x 24 = 1440
     that is  ...   1440 / 40 = 36 (feet)
