A nice place for seek about forthcoming film festivals are the
 
back pages of THE INDEPENDIENTE magazine...  and you can know in
 
advance dates if you wish to send a movie or video for competition.
 
If you are interested in a specific country, is a sort of easy
 
to ask to the appropiate Film Comission for a list.
 
main festivals:
 
CANNES middle may (now are checking about to move to october due
 
the postproduction times from american film companies)
 
BERLIN , started last thurstday  (Speell??)
 
VENECIA  middle september
 
NY middle september
 
Montreal  about august 18 or 19
 
FESTIVAL OF FESTIVALS (TORONTO)  early september
 
LOCARNO, SWISS  late early august
