Applications are invited to the position of Senior Lecturer in Film Studies
within the School of Film, Media and Cultural Studies to teach in the Film
and Media Studies major of the Bachelor of Communication. This major is one
of five hosted by the School, which also hosts a Bachelor of Screen
Production in Digital Media. Applicants should possess a scholarly
expertise in the core areas of film studies plus at least one of the
following areas: debates about gender, indigenous, identity politics in
film/media; Australasian, Asian, European and/or Third cinema; documentary;
cultural and/or media policy; new media. The ability to contribute broadly
to Film and Media Studies is desirable. Applicants must have a PhD in a
relevant discipline and a strong record in teaching and research. The
successful applicant will be expected to teach on the Nathan and Logan
campuses.

Key Accountabilities / Duties
1. Prepare, conduct and contribute to lectures, seminars, tutorials, film
screenings, and
workshops.
2. Initiate, develop and contribute to course planning, preparation and
administration.
3. Provide leadership and mentoring to junior staff.
4. Consult with students and undertake assessment.
5. Supervise honours and postgraduate students.
6. Conduct research.
7. Contribute to the academic profile of the School.
8. Participate in the administration of the School and the Faculty.

Conditions e.g. Salary, Superannuation
Annual Salary $58,718 - $67,707 (Salary package including 17% employer
superannuation contribution: $68,700 - $79,217 per annum)

Selection Criteria:
Essential
1. Expertise in film studies.
2. Possession of a PhD in a relevant discipline.
3. Demonstrable publications record.
4. Demonstrated teaching ability in teaching in film and media studies at
tertiary level.
5. Postgraduate teaching experience.
6. Experience in curriculum design and development, and coordination of
subjects and courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Desirable
7. Knowledge of media and cultural studies.
8. Potential to contribute to the Australian Key Centre for Cultural and
Media Policy.
9. A record of research funding.
10. Familiarity with flexible learning.
