In response to the idea that people go to films to be politically
entrenched (or whatnot) whether they know it or not:
 
I'm reminded of one of my favorite (and telling) lines from a movie of
all time.  In "The Sure Thing," straight laced law student Jason is brought
by former straight-laced girlfriend (played by Daphne Zuniga) to a frat
party.  Looking around, he says:
 
  "Look at all these people who think they're having fun."
