Hi, Screen-L,

I'm trying to build a short list of comedies which seemingly parody
Hollywood filmmaking in a self-reflexive manner, comedies which
rely heavily on the quotation of earlier films (either as "nostalgia"
films or "remakes").

Two primary examples come to mind --
THE LAST REMAKE OF BEAU GESTE (Marty Feldman) and PLAY IT
AGAIN, SAM (Woody Allen). I suppose Mel Brooks' TO BE OR NOT TO BE
might fall into this category, though it seems to be too much of a
true remake to me.

Can you think of -- or recommend -- other loose parodies in a similar
vein?

Feedback appreciated,
Michael Arnzen
