REVIEW -
.................................

Eclectic, flip, deep, and amusing. SCREEN-L, an unmoderated list, covers
film and television studies in a torrent of text bites. Don't let the
number of messages keep you from subscribing, though. Most messages are
terse and to-the-point missives. Depending upon your e-mail system, the
majority of messages should appear on a single screen.

A number of postings had the appearance of a Trivial Pursuit game, but
with film and television studies so deeply enmeshed in popular culture,
many such questions seemingly can only be answered by polling a network
audience. I challenge the reference librarian community to come up with
information on "the Banana Man," a performer on Captain Kangaroo (query
by Rhett Bryson, Bitnet BRYSON@FRMNVAX1, 92/07/08).

Researchers seeking primary materials (e.g., the films of Lester James
Peries requested by Rick Provine, Internet [log in to unmask],
92/07/17), requests for titles covering specific themes (e.g.
mannequins, gothic/cyborg, Biblical allegories), and background on the
production of various works are just as likely to appear on this list.
