Dear Jon:
The best book so far on Ruiz is Buci-Glucksmann and Revault D'Allones,
_Raoul Ruiz_, Paris: Dis Voir, 1987. It has a pretty good filmography. But of
course there's almost no way to keep up with him. If you're ever in New
York, please get in touch and I'll try to dig up my files -- I still have
the complete production stuff on THE GOLDEN BOAT, which we made here in
1990. As for TOP OF THE WHALE, unfortunately, the production/distribution
company in Holland that made it is long gone. Interestingly, the line
producer for that film was Kees Kassander, who has gone on to make the
Peter Greenaway films. I know he's currently trying to finance a new film
with Ruiz. His company is called Allarts and it's based in The Hague.
Best,
James Schamus
