Further to my previous post -- the name of the article on reality tv just
came to mind: it is in Bill Nichols, Blurred Boundaries: Questions of
Meaning in Contemporary Culture.  Bloomington: Indiana University Press,
1994.  There is a chapter in this book called "At the Limits of Reality TV"
pp. 43-62.
