I showed the 1935 Max Reinhardt *Midsummer Night's Dream* to a large
Shakespeare comedies class last night, a week after they had seen the
BBC TV production, and they almost hissed it off the screen.  Any
suggestions for creating tolerance for the movie as a movie, though it
may be, for the most part, only campy star-studded nonsense most of the
time, with Mendelssohn replacing Shakespeare's words?  Roy Flannagan
