                                             CALL FOR ENTRIES
                           1997 NATIONAL MEDIA OWL AWARDS
 
*The Retirement Research Foundation National Media Owl Awards,
established in 1984, is an annual competition to recognize excellence
in recently produced media on issues related to aging.
 
*The purpose of the competition is to identify and promote the
visibility of outstanding films, videotapes, and television programs
for and about aging or aged people, and to encourage excellence in
media productions on issues related to aging. Films and videos
produced, released or copywrited during 1996 are eligible to be
entered.
 
CATEGORIES
*There are four categories within the competition.
 
1) Independent Films and Videos
2) Television Non-Fiction
3) Training Films and Videotapes
4) Community Videos
 
PRIZES
*First Prize: $5,000 cash and a statuette of a "Wise Old Owl," the
symbol of The Retirement Research Foundation National Media Owl
Awards, given to the best in each category
*Second Prize: $2,000 cash and a plaque
*Honorable Mention: $1,000 cash and a plaque
*Community Video Award: $2,000 cash and "Wise Old Owl" statuette
 
ELIGIBILITY
*To be eligible, films, videotapes, and television programs must:
1) Be produced in the United States and
2) Deal primarily with concerns that are of specific interest to
aging or aged people or those working in the field of aging.
 
**Films, videotapes, or television programs that primarily promote a
particular organization, institution, or product will not be
eligible.
 
*Television Non-Fiction and Community Video Entries: Must be
initially broadcast or cablecast between January 1, 1996 and December
31, 1996.
 
*Training and Independent entries: Must be initially released or
copywrited between January 1, 1996 and December 31, 1996.
 
DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 5, 1997
