THE SHOT IN LA FILM AND VIDEO FOUNDATION
ANNOUNCES LOUISIANA SCREENPLAY CONTEST
 
New Orleans, LA, November 15, 1996 -- The SHOT IN LA FILM AND VIDEO
FOUNDATION announces the 1997 Louisiana Screenplay Contest.  The
contest is open to entries from both Louisiana, American and
international screenwriters.  The competition will consist of two
categories, adult and family content.  Three ranked screenplays will
be selected in each category.
 
The contest is limited to feature length screenplays only and must be
WGA registered and unattached to any production or option agreement.
For non-Louisiana entrants the contest requires at least a minimum of
25% Louisiana content.  The winners will be announced by April 1,
1997.  There will be two deadlines, Jan 15, 1997 (early) and Feb. 15,
1997 (late).  The fees for Louisiana residents will be $30 (early),
$35 (late), and non-residents $40 (early) and $45 (late).
 
Requests for information and entry forms will be taken in writing
only.  Information and entry forms can be obtained via fax, e-mail and

available on the World Wide Web at http://www.shotinla.com/.  An
on-line entry form which will be able to be printed locally and mailed
with screenplay will be available in December.
 
Cash prizes of $1,000 will be awarded to the top winners in each
category, along with agent representation by William Levin of Silver
Screen Placements. The other winners will be awarded $500 and $250 for
second and third places.  All of the finalist will also receive an
analysis from the finalist judges at a screenwriting seminar in April
1997 to be held in conjunction with Loyola University.
 
The final judges will be screenwriter Herschel A. Weingrod (Twins,
Space Jam) and William Coveny, Vice President, CBS Dramatic
Development.  The other levels of judging will include professional
screenwriters, entertainment executives and writers agents from both
Louisiana and across the country.
 
The Shot In LA Film and Video Foundation Screenplay Competition took
on the competition after the Louisiana Film Commission opted to
discontinue their Louisiana Screenplay competition after two years.
The contest is being coordinated by Loyola University professor,
screenwriter, and author Andrew Horton (Writing the Character Centered
Screenplay).  Horton is well know in the international film community
for his work as a screenwriter and supporter of European Cinema.
 
The Shot In LA Film and Video Foundation is the non-profit arm of Shot
In LA Magazine, The Louisiana film and video monthly.  The foundation
is dedicated to helping promote economic and educational opportunities
for Louisiana resident and students.  Shot In LA Magazine is the
authoritative voice on film and video production in Louisiana and is
the only source for monthly information about Louisiana s growing
business of film and video.
