as to the writing of WOLF
according to recent vanity fair, it did not spring from the
previous werewolf stories, but instead from an experience
the writer had several years ago. he was camping or something
and came upon a wounded wolf in the woods (sing alliteration)
which bit him... he went home and that night was able to jump
up and reach a chandelier he had not been able to touch before
and ran around his house crazy and whatnot. he's a friend
of nicholson, who he told about it and who told him he
should write a screenplay on it.
so there's a bit of the low-culture gossip on the story.
