The director of CLERKS is Kevin Smith who made this small independent film
called CLERKS with a lot of help from his friends and some credit cards to
finance it. It won an award at the Sundance Film Festival and caught the
eye of Miramax films who added in more of a soundtrack and released it
across the country. Smith's second movie is now on video by the name of
MALLRATS, it follows his so called New Jersey trilogy and includes the
characters of Silent Bob and Jay from CLERKS (Incidentally Silent Bob is
played by Kevin Smith, the director). Look closely when you watch MALLRATS
because their are many many in-jokes and references to CLERKS. Also many
of the same actors who are friends of Smith's also appear in MALLRATS. The
third game contestant is the same actor who played the main character in
CLERKS. The characters even have the same last name. Could they be
brothers? Smith has a third movie in production in the New Jersey
trilogy. The plot includes something about a guy who is in love with a
lesbian or something. If you have a laser disc player you may want to look
for the CLERKS laserdisc edition which includes interviews with the
director and an alternate ending in which Dante is shot in the convience
store.

Enjoy!
