Your friend might want to take a closer look at the key French-speaking
characters in "Casablanca."  And if H'wood's time-honored practice of
stereotyping "The French" is one focus of his/her study, the various
Gerard Depardieu vehicles (especially the arrogant, debauched character
in "Green Card") might be helpful, as well as the two "Sabrina" versions
(France as culinary/artistic mentor).
