Yes! I'm on the UFVA board and introduced a resolution on copyright 
there, but it got tabled. UFVA is becoming more industry-oriented, 
and in addition to the corporate sponsors there are too many 
individual faculty who identify with small producers -- and believe 
that copyright protects them somehow (of course, none of them have 
done any research on how copyright law actually plays out). But I'm 
doing what little I can... I'll be very vehement at the next meeting 
and force a vote.

If we can get one organization on board, the others might follow 
(well, maybe not BEA). What sort of action do you think SCMS should 
take, and why have they not done so?

I'm not that active in SCMS, though I'm a member, and i am going to 
the conference this year. If there's anything I can do to help 
organize within SCMS, let me know. I'm sure Jason would be up for it 
as well...

That's just awful news that Hatch is getting more involved.
