3. Call for papers: Francophonies en Images

 Kalamazoo Symposium on Pedagogical
Applications of French and Francophone Films
March 16, 2007
Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA

Proposal submission deadline: November 1st, 2006
Proposal acceptance notification: January 2007

The Symposium on Pedagogical Applications of French and Francophone Films will be
held March 16, 2007 during the Sixth Francophone Film Festival of Kalamazoo on the
Western Michigan University campus, Kalamazoo, Michigan. The symposium welcomes
presentation proposals on the use of French and Francophone films in the French
classroom at the high-school and university levels. Submissions related to theoretical
aspects of French and Francophone film studies are also encouraged. The proceedings of
the symposium will be subsequently published online.
Submitting a Proposal. Please create two (2) Word documents:
1. Create a title page for your submission. The title page should include:
a. title of the submission
b. presentation format:
* focus on pedagogy (30 min + 10 min Q & A)
* focus on theory (20 min + 10 min Q & A)
c. name(s) of the author(s)
d. department(s) and affiliation(s)
e. mailing address(es)
f. e-mail address(es)
g. phone number(s)
h. fax number(s)
i. Equipment needed: overhead projector, computer projector, VCR, DVD player. Note
to DVD users: recording the scenes to be shown on your hard drive and playing them
directly from there may be more convenient than trying to find a cue from a DVD.
2. Create an abstract page:
* The abstract should be anonymous, clearly titled and 450 words in length. It
should also fit on one page, with an optional second page for references or figures
if required. Please note the word count at the bottom of the abstract.
* Abstracts submitted must represent original, unpublished research.
* Please use the first author's last name as the file name for your document. (e.g.,
smith.doc)
* The deadline for abstract submission is November 1st, 2006.
Please e-mail both your abstract and your title page separately to

Receipt of submissions will be acknowledged via email within 48 hours.
If you do not wish to email your submission, you may send it via regular mail or fax to:
