and at least the Olivier and Zeffirelli versions of HAMLET (haven't caught
Branagh's yet).  (Thank you, Mssrs. Freud and Jones!)
 
There are a number of versions of the Christ story--if you regard that as
an example of biblical "myth"--aside from stuff like KING OF KINGS.
Relevant films include Dreyer's ORDET, E.T., and John Carpenter's STARMAN.
I'm sure there are many others.
 
The kind of Oedipal or maybe more precisely Abraham-Isaac father-son
confrontation is another common motif: EAST OF EDEN, STAR WARS and Souleymane
Cisse's BRIGHTNESS (YEELEN)_come to mind.
 
Mira Nair has a new film based loosely on the Kama Sutra.
